“A Broad and Balanced Curriculum”
In September 2014 a new National Curriculum was introduced for all maintained schools throughout England. Maintained Schools, such as Snape Wood Primary, have a statutory responsibility to teach all of the elements outlined with National Curriculum 2014.
However the National Curriculum is only the foundation on which we build our school curriculum. At Snape Wood Primary we have a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum which excites and inspires children.
Our curriculum is organised into topics which we are set out below. As part of our school curriculum we believe passionately in learning beyond the classroom. This includes residential visits in Year 2, Year 4 and Year 5 and a focus on outdoor learning within the EYFS and KS1.
Additionally every child in Year 1 to 6 participates in an enrichment activity at the beginning of each topic. This may include a visit, a workshop or an inspirational visitor. We believe that exciting and engaging the children form the very beginning of every topic we can capture and improve future learning.
