30 minutes:
Begin by watching the Jolly Phonics Songs on YouTube. The children should join in with the songs and actions:

After that, go to the Phonics Play website:

Play the three games in the order below. It will follow a similar structure to our lessons on Zoom.

1) Flash Cards Speed Trial (after pressing start select pick individual graphemes and select all for Phase 2 set 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and phase 3 set 6 , 7, 8, 9, 10 then ‘ow’/’oi’/’er’ in set 11):

2) Pick a Picture (after pressing start select phase 3 Digraphs):


3) Sentences (Underneath the resources tab at the top click on phase 3):

If the links do not work, go onto the website, click on the ‘Resources’ tab at the top of the screen, click on ‘Phase 2’ and find the correct games underneath.

Finally, practise reading and writing the Phase 2 and 3 Tricky wordsplay the scavenger hunt game.

Comparison of stories


  1. Watch or read ‘The Toymaker by Martin Waddell’:
  2. Discuss the title, author, front cover, blurb, setting, characters, plot (was there a problem? How was it solved?) alongside similarities and differences.
  3. Explain to the children that they are now their very own Toymaker. After an adult example being shown to the children, the children should now design a new toy and label it themselves. Use the ‘Toy Design’ worksheet if required.
  4. Challenge children to write a sentence/sentences describing its function.

1. Warm up your body by watching and joining in with the video:


Learning Objective: To further develop and refine a range of ball skills including - throwing, catching, kicking, passing, batting, and aiming.

2. Continue from last half term with throwing and catching.

Remind children when catching to keep their eyes open, to have their eyes looking at the ball and person throwing it and to have their hands out ready with soft fingers rather than stretched out and tense fingers.
Watch: for today’s throwing challenges. How many can you do without dropping the ball/ball substitute (socks/sponge)?


3. Join in with the ‘Colonel Crockles the Crocodile’ yoga session:

Read ‘Handwriting Gross and Fine Motor Crib Sheet – PARENTS’.

1. Playdough
Children to choose their favourite video from this week.

Children to choose their favourite song from this week.

 3. Handwriting
Adult to recap the correct letter formation for ‘c’/’o’/’a’ reminding children to start at the top and end in the correct place.
