About The Hive

The Autumn term is once again upon us and we've got a new name to go with this new school year- we are now The Hive!

'The Hive' is an alternative provision work space within the school.  It consists of two main types of provision for pupils to access within school.

The first, the morning session (with Miss Gudgin), aims to provide intervention provision to children who need additional support with English and/or Maths. This provision is given to selected children who have shown that smaller group work would benefit them in making progress in these areas. The session is particularly open to children with Special educational needs and/or children with English as an additional language.

The second provision offered by the Hive, the afternoon session (with Miss Potter), aims to provide nurture support for pupils within the school.  Our busy bees work hard in their 'Hive' to create a sense of wellbeing, managing emotions and learning important social and life skills during these sessions.

The Hive offers the children who access it, both an indoor and outdoor learning space nestled within the centre of our school building. The indoor area boasts a classroom learning space as well as its own small library area and creative zone. Whilst the outdoor learning space offers a zen garden with willow arches and dens, a grass area with benches designed by Snape Wood pupils and an undercover work area with black boards and creative equipment. For younger children who access this provision we also have some role play equipment and toys for them to access during their independent 'free flow' time.

Keep up-to-date with our learning on here and via our class Dojo page.

Personal, Social and Emotional Learning

In The Hive we have a strong focus on the personal, social and emotional aspects of our learning - this helps us to be ready and able to fully access the teaching and learning in our other classrooms.

 PRIDE at Snape Wood Primary

Super Points have been replaced with PRIDE points. At Snape Wood, we believe that every child should feel proud to be a part of our school and so we have introduced PRIDE points. Each letter represents an aspect of our school values:

P - positive attitude

R - respectful

I - inquisitive

D - determination

E - empathy

We use Class Dojo to record when your child receives a pride point.Image result for class dojo

We will be using Class Dojo in the classroom to record PRIDE points. Children can still collect points and spend them in the PRIDE points shop. You can also follow what's happening in our classroom by signing up to our Class Dojo app using a code which we can provide for you in a letter. This way, you can track your child's achievements from your phone as and when they happen. If you require a letter to see your child's Class Dojo progress, please pop in and ask Miss Gudgin.
