Work to send via DOJO

1. Read/watch the story: The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson
- Audio book/YouTube:
- Watch BBC iPlayer: (approx. 26mins)

Can you notice any rhyming words?

2. Review the story including giving it a star rating. Question: What did you like about the story? Why? What didn’t you like? Why? Did you have a favourite character? Why? If you were the author would you have changed anything? Why?

Adult to scribe the child's opinions, suggestions and ideas.

3. Plan and re-tell your own story/stories based on your favourite genre:
- Think of your character(s): a main character/the ‘goodie’ and a ‘baddie’ if needed
- Think of a setting (where is your story set? Space? Underwater? School? At the park?)
- Think of a problem
- Think of a way to solve the problem

Encourage the children to verbally retell their story – lots of prompting may be needed. Video record this so you can share it with us at school!

Challenge: Write 3 sentences – an opener, the problem, how it was solved e.g:
- Once upon a time there was a tall giant called Leggy.
- She was on her way to the golden castle when she realised that she had lost her sparkly shoes.
- She searched for them everywhere but she couldn’t find them so she bought a new pair. The end.

Audio/video recording of your story.
